Pakistan starting 5G internet trials in 2019

Pakistan telecommunication authority has turned out its draft structure for the public trials of 5G wireless network, its demonstrate systems and the associated facilities in our country. The draft structure concerns to the evolution and test of coming technologies peculiarly for the fifth generation wireless network in Pakistan.

Pakistan telecommunication authority stated that the rapid development in mobile data traffic and increasing customer request for an improved mobile broadband experience have made the forthcoming 5G technology necessary.

The official stated that

seen as comprehensive wireless access with the capacity to address the demands and requirements of mobile communication beyond IMT-2020, it is projected that this technology will operate in a highly heterogenous environment and provide ubiquitous connectivity for a wide range of devices, new applications, and use cases

IMT 2020                      

As per the details the term “IMT-2020” was first used by the Radiocommunication sector of the International Telecommunication Unit in 2012 to deliver the imagination of “IMT for 2020 and beyond”. The ITU has scheduled a timetable for completion of the standard by 2020.

PTA has marked that the scope for IMT-2020 in Pakistan is much extensive than the previous generation of the mobile telecommunication system. In addition to this, the ITU has been making satisfactory advancement with regards to its work on designing the parameters for the IMT-2020.

The draft structure for 5G enables the radio spectrum on a trial basis for the non-trade purpose to allow the implementation of trials for the advanced use of the radio frequency spectrum and apparatus and study purpose like scientific research, radio concepts and new system demonstration.

 The framework allows for temporary test and development licenses only.
